Where Faith Meets Risk


In business, we call it risk.
In Christianity, we call it faith.
Yet both ask the same thing of us:
to move forward without seeing the full picture.

Risk is guided by knowledge of the market, experience, and calculation.
Faith is guided by knowledge of God, trust, and conviction.
One studies patterns.
The other trusts promises.
But in both, nothing happens
until you take a step.

At this stage of life, I have come to realise:
whether in business or in faith,
progress begins where certainty ends.

So today, take that step,
not because you see everything clearly,
but because you know enough to move forward.

The Birth of Temitayọ

The evening of 6th February 1987 was just another day on my way back from Silsoe. It was a Friday, and Tọpẹ had left her foster parents in Bedford as soon as Grace started her maternity leave. I was rushing home, looking forward to seeing my little daughter. I was also very hungry and exhausted and could not wait to have my dinner. As I was about to put the key in the keyhole to open the door, I noticed that a note had been stuck to our front door. It was dark, so I could not read it properly. I removed it and moved to a place where there was light. It was Grace’s handwriting.                                Pa Thaddeus  One day, after work and just before I was free to go on my usual fishing expedition, I went up a hill near our hut to relieve myself. I heard a strange sound that seemed to be coming closer. I stood up to investigate, even though I hadn’t finished. I was nervous and started running without cleaning myself. Suddenly, I felt something touch my leg. As I tried to see what it was, I glimpsed the tail of what looked like a snake. My older brother, Thaddeus, was standing some distance away. I ran towards him and told him I’d seen a snake. He went up the hill to check and, within a minute, called my father, asking him to come quickly. He said it was a python.
