The City We Carry Within

Image
Once upon a time, in the ancient lands of Greece, there existed a small city-state named Alatheia. Nestled among lush hills and shimmering seas, Alatheia thrived on a deep sense of community and shared purpose. Every citizen had a voice, a say in decisions that shaped their daily lives. The people gathered regularly in the Agora, a bustling marketplace that served not only as a centre of trade but also as a stage for ideas. Philosophers, poets, artisans, merchants, and farmers mingled freely, engaging in spirited debates about justice, truth, and the nature of existence. At the heart of Alatheia’s philosophy was the belief in balance and harmony within the individual and within the state. Its citizens understood that the well-being of the community depended not just on the wisdom of leaders but on the virtue and participation of everyone. Among them lived Callias, a young potter known for his meticulous craftsmanship. Though devoted to shaping clay, he was often drawn to...

Clock of Choices

Image
“Clock of Choices” explores the constant pressure of everyday decision-making. Painted in orange with swirling, dynamic strokes, the clock sits at the centre like a living heart, a reminder that every moment carries a choice, and every choice carries a consequence. The blurred colours surrounding the clock evoke movement, urgency, and the unpredictability of life. They mirror the storms and the calm that shape our daily decisions, from time management and relationships to shifting priorities and the internal battles we face alone. The figures around the clock symbolise how the boundaries of time shift hour by hour and minute by minute as we navigate our journey through day and night. Yet the steady hands of the clock urge us to act with wisdom, consciousness, and intention. This work invites viewers to reflect on how they spend their time, not only in grand gestures, but in the quiet, everyday moments where wisdom is slowly and quietly born, one step at a time.

Mind Nurturing

Image
The mind is the storehouse of your thoughts and ideas. It is your private inner room where you hold quiet meetings with yourself. This is where you ask life’s most difficult questions without fear of judgement. In this room, you consult your own wisdom and find answers that speak to your deepest truths. No one has the key to this room unless you choose to give it to them. Here, you can create a plan and revise it without needing to justify your reasons to anyone. In this space, you are free to hold two or more thoughts at once, to wrestle with dilemmas, and to consider “to be or not to be.” Nurturing your mind is about preparing it for how to respond to the ups and downs of life, as one event ends and another begins in an endless chain. This is at the heart of spiritual cultivation, enlightenment, and personal growth.

Demons: Our Silent Teachers

Image
Every human being has a demon to contend with. These demons do not always arrive with fire and fury; sometimes they come quietly, through fear, self-doubt, loss, regret, or the shadows of our past. What distinguishes one person from another is not the presence or absence of demons, but the attitude we adopt when they rise to confront us. Some people choose to embrace their demons, while others feel compelled to fight them. To embrace your demon is not an act of surrender. It is the courage to acknowledge its presence without allowing it to dominate your life. It is the calm acceptance that this challenge, however troubling, is part of your journey which will come and go. By embracing it, you refuse to be defined by it. You see it, name it, and understand it, but you do not allow it to overwhelm your thoughts and daily pursuit of your livelihood and purpose. To fight your demon, however, is to reject its existence or deny that it has any meaning in your life. This form of...

The Triangular Paradox

Image
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Board Size: 20" x 16" Date: 2025 In The Triangular Paradox, I explore the delicate balance between separateness and unity. Each of the three triangles carries its own identity, swirling clouds of colour, emotion, and movement, yet none stands alone. Their edges define one another; their shared tensions give the composition life. No triangle can fully claim its form without the presence of the others, yet each retains its distinct character. This is the essence of ubuntu, the understanding that “I am because we are,” that identity is shaped and sustained through connection. The artwork brings together two opposing forces: geometric certainty and fluid transformation. Within these fixed shapes, colours shift, merge, and dissolve, suggesting that even the most solid structures hold within them motion, change, and mystery. The painting invites viewers to contemplate the paradoxes of human existence. It offers a moment for reflection on how...

Restoring the Balance Between Truth and Falsehood

Image
When lies, falsehood, and misinformation become the common tools for navigating the complexity of human existence, the foundation of trust, the spirit that holds societies together, begins to crumble. What was once a search for understanding turns into a contest of narratives, where appearance triumphs over substance and persuasion replaces sincerity. To restore the balance between truth and lies, humanity must return to the inner discipline of consciously seeking truth which is not a possession to be claimed, but a horizon to be approached with inner awareness of our own limitations.  Seeking truth intentionally demands courage to challenge popular beliefs. It requires patience to listen beyond noise. It calls for integrity to speak without fear or favour.  The essential tool, therefore, is the awakening of moral consciousness. We need a renewed commitment to thinking critically, discerningly and carefully, and acting ethically. Education, dialogue, and reflective...
