The Triangular Paradox
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Board
Size: 20" x 16"
Date: 2025
In The Triangular Paradox, I explore the delicate balance between separateness and unity. Each of the three triangles carries its own identity, swirling clouds of colour, emotion, and movement, yet none stands alone. Their edges define one another; their shared tensions give the composition life. No triangle can fully claim its form without the presence of the others, yet each retains its distinct character. This is the essence of ubuntu, the understanding that “I am because we are,” that identity is shaped and sustained through connection.
The artwork brings together two opposing forces: geometric certainty and fluid transformation. Within these fixed shapes, colours shift, merge, and dissolve, suggesting that even the most solid structures hold within them motion, change, and mystery.
The painting invites viewers to contemplate the paradoxes of human existence. It offers a moment for reflection on how we remain individuals while being inseparable from the worlds around us. It reminds us that stability and change can coexist, and that truth may appear in many forms while still belonging to one greater whole.
